October

October has been a fairly strange time this year, when the clocks go back to me it is a time which to me is so specific, so clear in my mind is a familiar feeling of time and place, that each year I visit this same forgotten childhood feeling, and I find everything exactly how I left it.

The way it gets dark one hour earlier, I think it must shock me. The onset of night time comes without resistance, and I am left with a slightly hollow feeling, as if the entire day never happened. A nostalgic daze of bonfire nights, woodland walks, singing 'autumn days' at school, and the slowly uncoiling memories of times long slipped away. The dawning realization that times past will never return, poetically as the sun sets ever more rapidly each day.

I'm in a Book!

I discovered I was in a design book yesterday! I found a copy of it in the Tate Shop, its called Squares,Checks, and Grids, its published by rotovision. I vaguely remember some guys asking me if I would be in their book at New Designers, but I didn't hear much else.. until yesterday!

The images of my work are a bit shit, but its a pretty good book, its all about using grids and squares and things in design, so my work from college using reinforced glass was included - although its a bit tenuous, its still great to see my work in print.

La Roux Myspace

This week, my redesign of the myspace page for electro-indie musician Laroux.
We decided to go for some simple early 90s influenced patterns, but a little bit disco.
There is more to come, but I thought it was worth announcing.

Here are some concept shots;

Robots in Disguise - behind the scenes

Here are some on set photos from the Tears video shoot with Robots in Disguise. The video will be up soon, as soon as Graeme has finished rendering it for the sixteenth time. If there are any Fielding fans reading, you might spot Noel in the photos as he kindly volunteered to cameo in the video. And despite there not being a significant number of photos of me, I was in fact there. The photos were taken by a lovely girl, who's name I cant remember, but thankyou lovely girl.

Watch this space for the video (should be in the next few days...

Optimism - Deptford style!

I found this written in one of the more colorful of Deptford's public buildings.

Lego Wall

It's things like this that make you realize, there is a whole universe of possibilities, for something even as simple as LEGO, yet when I think of using LEGO creatively, all that comes to mind is the michel Gondry video.

Goldsmith's Rock Society Flyers

Here are some flyers I made a while ago for the Goldsmith's Rock Society, there wasn't really a brief, but the night was pretty much rock - rock bands, so something a bit victorian with a dash of fairground oddity, it worked out reasonably well. I didn't like it so much at the time, but what can I say, its grown on me.

Elektrikfilth

here is the poster I made for the elektrikfilth discotheque evening. There isn't really much of a concept to this apart from lasers and horses, but it came out okay I think.

Congregation

A few weeks ago I helped Congregation with their photography and layouts for their new album, its out everywhere - its pretty good too! The album was reviewed in Mojo with 4/5, so if you get chance then you should check it out.

Sexy Deptford

I finally found something sexy on Deptford high street!

Bombay Sapphire Prize in Milan

Last week, I partnered up with Dezeen and Bombay Sapphire to create some video diaries of the Milan festival, primarially covering the Bombay Sapphire Prize, and the announcing of the winner. This mainly involved a whole lot of filming and editing in the hotel, but it was a fantastic experience. Milan is fantastic for the festival. In Porto Tortona, the streets were packed with people, and they were all there for design, it was unbelievable. If only London where anywhere near as exciting come September.

The Videos are posted below;

Day 1: setting up

Day 2: judging

Day 3: announcing the winner

Day 4: interviews

Day 5: parties
